Dealing With Alcoholism And Substance Addiction

Addiction drug prescription is very much similar to alcoholism or any kind of substance addiction. Normally, nobody is recommended to use alcohol for medical cause but those individuals who are suffering from chronic pains have to deal with serious aches and sometimes even painkillers are failed to provide them relief. For them narcotics become necessary to get rid of the pain, but the major risk that is involved with it is that they usually get addicted to drugs.

Many studies have revealed that people suffering from chronic pain are more likely to have addiction drug prescription. This happens when the narcotic substance is taken on a regular basis for a longer time period and the body even stops responding to them at certain point of time. As an end result the patient is required to take a larger and larger dose of the drug and can lead to addiction.

The Symptoms Of Substance Abuse

Addiction drug prescription also develops a need for the drug on the part of the patient and gradually drugs become an essential part of their lives. Apart from addiction, the addictive behaviors also become very common in addicts. Its symptoms may include: frequently lying, hiding the use of pills and having obsessive compulsion disorder as they keep on counting their pills unnecessarily. When their addiction increases further they began committing illegal actions like stealing and faking illnesses or problems to get more drugs.

The Treatments Available At An Inpatient Detox

Drug prescription addicts also face the feeling of shame and guilt, as they are well aware of the fact that these pills are ruling their lives. But that cannot prevent them from taking drugs in fact guilt and shame can have a destructive effect. As the patient’s behavior becomes more violent and the feeling of hatred is quite common. There are many treatments available for prescription drug addicts. There are some insurance companies that include inpatient detox and offer financial assistance with rehab. With the help of rehab the patient will soon start having the symptoms of withdrawal and that brings the change in the lifestyle of that person.

Do drug interventions work?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Just recently saw a TV show on interventions.  Do drug interventions really work? The show was great but I’m always torn when watching these reality TV shows and feel that this should probably be kept private. The show had a drug interventionist by the name of Ken Seeley with Intervention 911. Ken has been on the show for several years now and in my opinion is the best interventionist on the show. You can tell that he really loves what he does and is in the business to save lives.

So back to the orginal question I had… Do drug interventions work? Yes I think they do but it’s tough to know if the addicts stay sober once the interventionist has done their job and gotten them to admit their addiction and go to a rehab. My feelings are that the only one that can determine if one is an addict would be the actual addict. Now I know there are a lot of active addicts out there that are able to get by and are able to cope with life and do not think they’re addicts so an intervention would really make this clear.

The intervetnion process helps to get the family involved and really helps the addict see what descrtuction they’re causing in their families life. So in this regard, I think that drug intervetnions work. I also think that they work in getting the addict to get into treatment to get a clear head so they can start to recover from drug addiction and/or alcoholism.
