One of the most common types of eating disorders that goes over looked everyday is binge eating. This type of eating disorder affects millions years, especially around the holiday season. With the constant family gatherings and feasts of delicious foods, it can be difficult for people with an addiction to food to fear the holidays.
What is Binge Eating?
Binging is the overconsumption of food beyond the point of fullness. People who have an addiction to food crave and desire foods so strongly that the need to satisfy their hunger is overpowered by the amount of food they eat. Binge eaters consume food even if they are not hungry, and the sight of food could be all it takes to start a binge. People with this disorder often feel guilty and depressed after a binge. Different eating disorders cause different psychological conditions, and binging is linked to low self-esteem, anxiety, and severe depression.
An eating disorder clinic compares binge eating to a drug addiction. The body needs to be trained off the binging cycles, just as a drug. Many people think that eating disorder treatment is only for people with anorexia or bulimia, but eating disorder rehab is available to binge eaters too.
